HPLX

A Cosmik project

Classic games.
One connected family.

HPLX brings a modern engine, game reimplementations, a launcher and a planned editor into one family. Work starts with HPL2 and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

In development

01 / Games

Start with
The Dark Descent.

In development

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

The first game reimplementation in the HPLX family. It uses your existing game content with a new runtime built on the HPLX engine.

What works so far

Menus, saves and custom-story launching are implemented. The opening campaign sections have been playtested; later campaign checks, menu validation and lighting comparisons are still in progress.

Windows is the only platform verified so far. This is development progress, not a public release.

02 / Engine & tools

The rest
of the family.

HPLX Engine

In development

The shared foundation for game reimplementations. Current work focuses on HPL2 formats and the runtime systems needed by The Dark Descent.

HPLX Launcher

In development

A desktop home for HPLX games. Game-copy discovery, saves, installed custom stories and package management are implemented. End-to-end desktop validation is still in progress.

HPLX Editor

Planned

Editing tools are planned within each HPLX game, with in-viewport playtesting. The editor is not built yet.

03 / Development

Where things stand.

HPLX is in active development. There’s no public release or download yet.

The engine, The Dark Descent and the launcher are being developed together. The current focus is HPL2; broader compatibility is future work.

Further ahead

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs

A future game reimplementation. Work has not started.

Penumbra & HPL1

A future direction for the family, beyond the current HPL2 work.

No release dates are announced for these projects.
